5 Reasons to Create Your Personal Bucket List
Why wait till you’re about to kick the bucket to come up with a list of things you want to accomplish in your life? Here are five reasons why you should create a bucket list right now:
1. It gives your life direction.
The best way to get the most out of life is to know what you want and to have a vision for the future. A bucket list is a list of things you want to do at some point during your life.
2. It encourages the development of new hobbies and the planning of new life adventures.
Having a written record of things that you have always wanted to do facilitates adventure-planning or even spontaneous activities.
3. It helps you get excited about the future.
When life starts to feel mundane, it helps to be reminded that you always have something to look forward to.
4. It’s refreshingly different from to-do lists.
A bucket list should never add stress to your life. It’s not meant to be a list of tasks that loom over you until you accomplish them. It’s simply a place to store your fun ideas.
5. It provides a sense of accomplishment.
When we accomplish something on our bucket list, we can take pride in our achievement, which will then drive us to achieve even more.
So how do you create a bucket list?
Start with things you think would be fun to do but don’t currently have the means to accomplish. Is there a place you’ve always wanted to visit? Is there a food you’ve always wanted to try? Perhaps an instrument you’ve always wanted to learn? How about a something that might be impractical now but maybe not in the future, like dying your hair a crazy color? Another great way to get started is to use a Pinterest board to create your bucket list.
Here are some ideas for bucket list items:
• visit the Eiffel tower
• try surfing
• get a pet hedgehog
• learn a second language
So what are you waiting for? You’re sure to have fun putting together your own bucket list!
